I´ve just tested my DDrum with my DIY-Pad and discovered following: I noticed, that the Kick-Input was very low, so i set the preferences very high: treshold 1, dynamic +15, full sensibility, but the light won´t climbed higher than 3-2 lights before full level by full hitting the pad. Sso i´ve decided to try other inputs with the same preferences and I´ve got the full programm of sens, dynamic and power. And the end i´ve noticed that the following Inputs won´t give the full programm: kick, high Tom and Cymbal2.
I ´ve also controlled the Levbel and Output. Are there other things I´ve didn´t noticed? Or must I repair the Brain-Inputs?
pls Help! Thx
Theo

hi theo,
i'm sure others will have better suggestions than i but i thought i'd give you my elementary thoughts. do you have the trigger inputs set to the proper triggers? its the first/bottom option in the system functions. i've also had some weird problems go away buy simply swapping cables so you may want to give that a try. sorry if neither of these are helpful. good luck.

Theo,
I would select the Input Trigger type that is most similar to construction of your DIY pad. The following Input Trigger types are listed in the manual.
‘bAS’: Use with the ddrum Cast Precision and Cast Precision Mesh Head Kick pad.
‘PAd’: This is the one to use when playing ddrum Cast Precision pads with sticks.
‘rin’: The ddrum Cast Precision and Cast Precision Mesh Head Snare pad has a special rim sensor. Use this trig input type if a channel is triggered from the rim sensor.
‘AcP’: Use this with the ddrum Cast Acoustic pads.
‘Hnd’: Select this if you want to play on the pads with your hands.
‘Ac1’: Use this one if you are using an acoustic snare drum together with a ddrum Trigger microphone. If you get multiple trig signals, try and raise the threshold value for the channel or select ‘Ac2’.
‘Ac2’: This one is slightly less sensitive than ‘Ac1’. Try this one if you are using a ddrum Trigger microphone mounted on acoustic toms or kick drums.
‘Ac3’: This is the least sensitive “acoustic” trig input type. It is designed for triggering long, sustained acoustic drum sounds using a ddrum Trigger.
‘Cyb’: Use this one if you are a ddrum Cymbal.
‘nh1-3’: Select one of these if you’re playing on acoustic drums fitted with mesh head and triggering with ddrum Trigger. Use ‘nh1’ for small heads, ‘nh2’ for medium and ‘nh3’ for large heads. If your ddrum4 SE system was shipped with the Cast Precision Mesh Head Pads the snare, toms and percussion channels should be set to mesh head 1 (nh1).
‘HHt’: This should be used if you’re using the ddrum Hi-hat. The ddrum Hi-hat must be connected to trigger input number 10 on the ddrum4 SE module to work as intended. When you’re using a ddrum Hi-hat for the first time, and select the ‘HHt’ trigger type, the ddrum4 SE module needs to be calibrated to the Hi-hat. While in Trig Input mode (in the System menu) for channel 10, loosen the clutch from the hi-hat rod, let the clutch slide all the way down and then hold Shift and press Exit. The DISPLAY will confirm the calibration by briefly showing ‘CAL’. If you connect another ddrum Hi-hat or change the clutch, you will have to recalibrate.

Thx, Bill, but i´ve used all sorts of trigger-types, there have been noe difference about the sens and dynamic..... Theo

Mh, that's strange. So if you take a 'working' channel and one with low dynamic response, you have all settings adjusted identically, right? And still have different dynamic results? I can just confirm that there is no hardware difference between the channels (for example kick channel can be used for snare, cymbal channel can be used with tom pads, etc.). They should all respond identically if the settings are all the same If nothing works, I would suggest to make a total factory reset of all settings. I am sure you have tried everything but I don't have a better idea :-( I have triggered the ddrum4 with some Roland pads. I guess the ddrum pads could give a higher signal output as the piezo is closer to the head. But there was no problem to trigger the ddrum4 with proper dynamics. I think the Roland pads are closer to the ones you've built. Do you have some other pads available for testing? Maybe even a ddrum pad? But that shouldn't help too much as you said other channels work properly. Which firmware version do you have?

I´ve just solved the Problem with a Factory-Reset ;D Everything is fine, thank you very much! Theo

Once again a few Inputs have no good functions BD, Tom 1, Percussion and Cymbal 2 are very bad. It´seems, that the knob for the Sensitiviy don´t react like it should do. Sometimes I´ll get a high input, somtimes only a small input if i put the Dynamics on "off"- I´m really afraid that i´ve bought a defective module Could it be, that I´ve soldered my DIY-Toms and Bass wrong? I Can´t believe, cause with my Stereo-Soldered Snare I´ve the same Probs. Is there someone, who knows more about this fact? Theo

in the past I have had trouble with some of the inputs, if you are a diy kinda guy you could take your ddrum apart and see if the input jacks need resoldering, mine did and that fixed my troubles

Anybody know what a ddrum kick pad (cast) is worth? I'm considering selling mine and using my acoustic kick with a trigger. Mine works perfectly but could stand a new head on it. Thanks! gbrum1952
