Hi! I've might by a ddrum 4 SE kit that has been standing unused for some time in a church I'm visiting. The thing is the kids been pretty ruff to it and some things need to be adjusted. My first question to this forum is if there’s anything I can do to get rid of those extra hits on the hi-hat that the kit produces it selves when I play? Second, one of the toms has probably got a hit on that red thing that covers the trigger, and therefore is almost touching the drumhead. This tom produces soft hits without anyone touching the kit every one second. Could the solution to this be to bend this red metal thing 2-3 mm from the drumhead, or is it more likely that these hits are produced because of something else? /Henrik

You would need to spend a little time adjusting some of the input settings (threshold, sensitivity, etc) to make sire that there's not damage to the hihat controller.
As for the "red thing that covers the trigger", yeah, it sounds like it's been bent from getting hit by a stray stick. You should be able to (carefully) bend it back to it's original position. After that, you may need to adjust the sensitivity and crosstalk settings to get it dialed in properly.
If you do those things and it works fine, then I'd say you've found yourself a pretty decent setup.

I agree with Scott checking through some of the internal settings would 9 times out of 10 correct issues like that unless as previously mentioned there would be damage to the hihat controller itself . Also I wanted to mention to make sure that you check the input sensitivity knob itself for the hihat channel on the module and make sure it isn't turned all the way up . I have heard alot in the past of people using these knobs to try to solve a triggering , or volume issue they were having , and those little black knobs really only adjust how responsive the trigger on that channel is going to be when struck . Hi again! So, everything was solved when I restored all settings to factory defaults. Everything should be fine now but... I can't close the Hihat. It's opened all the time, seams that small circuit card that controls the closing just wont work. If it’s broken, are there anywhere to get spare parts for ddrum 4 nowadays? Or would a Roland Hihat work?

Sometimes resetting everything will require calibrating the hihat controller again . Might be worth a shot before you start looking at other problems that might be causing the only open hats function that you're currently having . sam(otacon28)

Hi! Thanks for all your help. It took some time to get hold of the manual since they split it up in different parts. But once I got hold of the right one I could re-calibrate the Hihat and I also found out that I mixed up the cabels. The Hihat was the only one who needed a stereo cable and I'd used that for another pad ;D.

That's usually the first thing to check when having problems with the hihat controller . Usually I tell people check things in this order ( Using a stereo cable on hihat , re-calibrate the hihat controller , then if none of the previous solved the problem remove and reload the hihat samples back into the module ) . There is times where various samples end up with glitches in them and simply reloading them usually is another easy fix . sam(otacon28)
