Perhaps we should move back to original thread :-) maybe delete these scary posts if you can. Thread continued here.

Hi again,I have been lost with the ddrum4edit and Ken has been very patient. This is easier by far but I still need some kind of manual that says exactly what does what. It took Ken a lot of posts before I could use sysex library to use midi to download samples from a Mac and I have been doing it without problems now so I can learn this stuff. What you just explained in the last post went right over my head.I read pretty well and already read the help page a few times. Anyway you guys are awesome for doing this I'm just not anywhere near your skill, maybe eventually some easier notes will come and thanks again.....KOB

Hi Valdu,I took a tom sample I currently play, TOM_723tom1 AMB7s,and removed the 1st layer and lowered the pitch, volume, decay to what sounds good. The layer I removed on the variations page, and saved it as TOM_001 NWtom1 which is now shown in the tom folder right on top, this is truly amazing how simple it is,I am going to test it now by sysex librarian unless there's a new way to upload.I am deleting the TOM_723 sample in module first?I still need help if it's OK to ask questions once and awhile. Thanks a lot! KOB

Follow-up,I deleted TOM_723 and checked it was deleted then sent TOM_001 by midi and checked and #723 was back but as my version,I thought it was going to be a new number but it sounded great,I forgot about retuning the other toms in the sequence so that's next, looking good I think,I'll try to be self-motivated nowThanks!!

Note that it isn't the name of the sound file that matters, but the sound ID (category and number) that's stored in it. You can save your sound to a file called TOM_001.mid or lime-jello.mid or whatever you want, but if you want the ddrum4 to see it as TOM 001, you'll have to change its ID by clicking on Edit > Sound ID in the menu bar...

Hi glevner, thanks for all this.I did another tom in the next number TOM_725 and removed the number 1 sample and then did Edit> sound ID chose TOM_002 and then went to save as again and saw the new file and 2clicked it to sysex libarary into the module and this time it was showing #2 and I put it in the set-up for kit P-1 but this time I had alot of miss- triggers so I deleted it and put the sample 725 back and its fine now. I don't know if I did something wrong but it does this some times with other samples from the SE library,I have another module coming today so if you need me to try anything or you know what happened, thanks. Ken

Here is an example of a custom cymbal sound. I started with the Sound [CYMB_708 KAcrash2 3S.mid], removed one of the two crash samples then added a bell sample and adjusted the layers parameters. I've changed the Sound_ID, and renamed the sound, keeping 708 in its name to remember its origin.

Do you add any file on another by using open or do you stack them and is there any problems with samples not working completely after pruning layers?I just got another ddrum4 because mine was freezing with certain sounds but the headphones don't work on this one so now I have to see about another module, thanks again for the help

Generally I start by eliminating samples that seem redundant to me, in order to lighten the sound in terms of number of blocks. Then I reorganize the layers to avoid gaps in the list. To add samples from another Clavia sound I use drag/drop, otherwise file/import samples for external samples. Then I work on the pitch, volume, decay, velocity and position parameters. You say that your module freezes with certain sounds, could you send one or more of these sounds so that I can do tests on my own? Are these sounds activated by a particular trigger input, have you tried assigning them to another input or another pad? As an attachment, I have included two simple sounds intended to help you understand how the position and velocity parameters work and a possible use of variations. They only contain one sample, I played with the pitch parameters to obtain melodic notes. One of the sounds is for velocity parameters, the other for position parameters. For each, there are two variations, 1 with a strict separation of zones, 2 with gradual transitions.

I just noticed a little mistake in the ASRT_101, layer 5, there is a 20 value isolated in the position parameters, it should be 0. Anyway, you can play with the parameters and explore other possibilities of pad behavior. The good one: ASRT_101 TEST_POS.mid (16.14 KB)

Thanks for the help Valdu,I am without a module right now and will do these later today.I had another question about position like you referenced above is that for a regular head pad or does it work on mesh too or cymbals probably have zones, this might transfer.

The position settings work for pads and cymbal pads, both are mono-zone. The pads I use are the regular head ones (I prefer these), I didn't try on mesh pads with the Red Shot trigger on the side. But I have some too so I will try.

Unfortunately I have to use the mesh heads for volume which work really great for triggering because they're ddrum as are the cymbals and hats so all this is great,I have been working on a headphone jack that only plays 1/2 pulled out about to take it apart and see if any way I can keep this module I just got yesterday,as always thanks for all this.
