Hey everyone, Great to see a forum for this amazing machine! I bought a ddrum4 which doesn't boot up.
When you turn it on it shows an 8 followed by a . on the LED screen.
Pressing buttons has no impact on it.
I've made a new OS using my Batronix Batupo II but still it has the same issue.
Any help is gratefully received!
Many thanks

Hi midierror! The "8" displayed is reporting on the memory size (8MB). Normally this is followed by a memory validation check which will report E.31 through E.38 if it finds a bad chip (1-8). In your case it does not seem to even make it to that next check. A couple of things to check; 1) If your unit is an SE, make sure the serial number is below DA4945 and has the Intel flash memory chips in order to use the 1.5 OS. DA4945 is where the change was made to AMD flash chips and the version 1.54 OS was required to support the change in chip (only difference). The older units can all be upgraded to 1.5, but not 1.54 (there are not many 1.54 units). 2) Deve Loper mentioned in another troubleshooting thread to always first check the power supply for proper voltage, which seems like a logical first step! Based on that you can (carefully) check voltage at other points on the boards to see if it drops anywhere. I am not an electronics wiz so cannot offer much more than that but hopefully gives you a place to start. This post from @krillo links to the schematics; unofficially-ddrum.proboards.com/post/1957/threadCheers! Ken

Hi Kjetil, Some questions for you; - Could you confirm the serial number of your module is DA4945 or greater?
- Did this module quit working for you at some point or did you receive this unit in its current, broken state?
- What else appears on the screen before it stops at 1.54?
- Do any lights come on?
- Do you have a USB Midi device available (not bluetooth) to test with? If so, then;
- Connect the module MIDI Out to laptop/iPad/etc. MIDI In.
- Setup to capture MIDI output from the module using the SysEx software of your choice.
- Hold down both the PALLET-1 and PALLET-4 button while powering up the module.
- This should output a stream of sysex messages to your receiving software can be analyzed (to some degree anyway).
