For those that use DDrum brains with other pads, a recommendation :
I've had a really hard time over the years, getting good response from kick pads, without double hits. This is of course because the DDrum brains have no "masking" function.
I recently got a pair of Roland KT-10 Kick pedals. Because these don't have real heads or long fulcrums, they don't bounce at all when they are struck. The difference is incredible. Absolutely no double hits, with any drummer, and excellent dynamics. And all of the drummers that have played them at my studio have loved the feel. Not one wanted to bring in his own kick & pedal.
The only downside is that the output is slightly low, even with my brain's sensitivity turned fully up. There's probably an electronic fix for that, but it doesn't bother / affect me enough to deal with it.

Hi cableaddict I know there are others using the same pedal and satisfied as well. Couple of questions; 1) What specifcally do you mean by "masking"? 2) Which pads have you used that had the undesired bounce? 3) Do you find that fast kicks (kind of like a ruff) where typically you rely on bounce from the head to be problematic with the KT-10? Cheers! Ken

I use the KT-10 w my dd3 and I agree, it works great! I have the gain set at 1 o'clock. If you have problems w double triggering, you can use the "acoustic" trigger type settings.
