You are lucky to have found one of those. Did you get any of the SDS pads along with it?

I've got the module from a friend. He had offered the pads as well but I didn't want to use them. I'd prefer SDS9 Simmons pads. The SDS V pads didn't even have rubber (kinda acrylic surface) :-)
But it's difficult to get decent trigger results using ddrum pads. I've got to get it right. The sound is so awesome :-)

You couldn't add rubber to the SDS pads? Danny Carey had cool designs on top of his Simmons pads. Let me know how it ends up working with the ddrum pads.

AFAIK Danny plays the SDX which has (different to all other Simmons) FSR pads (no piezos) for position tracking (three zones). The SDS V pads are pretty much like all the better rubber pads from later generations. Except the surface. The only difference might be the trigger signal resulting from the different surface. I've played around a little more and I think it's quiet fine now with the ddrum pads :-) SDS V pad: rubber pads: SDX pads (FSR) only for Simmons SDX brain: Of course I'll let you know how I end up :-) I've tried to add redshot triggers to my cast precision pads. This way I would have another trigger pickup for each pad. I could trigger ddrum3 and the SDS V simultaneously. Unfortunately the redshots output was too low for anything because of the foam below the head. I think they are designed to work with free floating heads only. So I have to switch cables when I want to trigger the SDS V. The SDS V has additional trigger inputs for sequencer, etc. . Another idea might be to use the individual outputs of the ddrum3 and trigger the SDS V channels. I'll check it out. Lot's of toy-stuff to do during Christmas days :-)
