Hi folks,
I'm a newbie to drumming so please forgive my "rookie-like" questions...
I love my kit, but I'm finding that the bass/kick pedal constantly moves. There are these metal pins that screw out which seems to be there to hold the kick pedal and bass drum in place, but they also look like they can damage my carpet and floor boards. So I placed a piece of soft foam under the crossbar where these pin are, but it still moves around alot.Wondering if anyone else has had this problem with any electronic kit and if so, what was their solution/tip?
I had the same problem with the hihat pedal, but the foam helped a lot. This pedal no longer moves around, or barely. But the kick pedal for the bass is connected and not free-standing like the hihat pedal.
Will extending the pins (which are sharp and pointy) damage my carpet? Seems like it could cause some damage. Definitely afraid to use it on new flooring.
Am I missing something? Are these pin screws not meant for keeping the pedal in place?
Am I hitting the bass pad too hard? I tend to be a heavy player so force may be an issue.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

Hi This is a fairly common problem. The best solution might be placing the kit including the throne on a sheet of carpeted plywood. You can place foam beneath the whole sheet of plywood.

Hey, Krillo, that's not a bad idea. I may give it a shot this fall (giving me some time to get the supplies cut up and made. I was hoping to somehow just make the pedal and bass pad stationary. The pedal does have hard foam attached to the bottom of the pedals (both bass and hi hat) approximately 1/4 inch thick, but they don't seem to help much when the pedals move. Also I have those sharp spring-screws screwed out to just past the hard foam pads. Do you know if this correct positioning?.
Playing-wise, I can get past several minutes before the back of the bass pad comes into contact with the frame. I usually start with the bass pad about six inches away from the frame. I also found if I kick too hard when the pad is touching the frame, the crash cymbal activates by itself. The moving pedal seems like a design flaw (unless I'm totally being a newbie and not setting the pedals up right).
Again, it's not stopping me from playing as I spent a good hour and a half, playing and recording today <grin>.
Thanks for your suggestion. I didn't think of that. Wondering what others may have done, as I'm sure others must have had the same problem
