Hi everyone,
Even though I've been playing guitar for over thirty-five years, last year I purchased a DDrum DD1 Plus to try my hand(s & feet) at learning a new skill. Although I'm still very much a beginner, I feel like I'm catching on pretty good, but have stumbled upon a few glitches and issues which I'm hoping to get some ideas about here on this forum. Even though my love of stringed instruments continues, I've always been one of those guys tapping his fingers and hands on tabletops, etc... So drumming seemed like a good jump to make.
I'm currently trying to record drums (so I can later add bass, guitars, keys, etc..) using my Zoom R24 and all is going well, though on playback, a lot of what I record sounds more like practice runs, fills, etc... Still, having mega fun.
I chose an electronic drum kit for many reasons. One was space. I've found the DD1Plus fits perfect in a small back room on my second floor and is easy to store when not in use. Another reason was so as not to disturb my neighbors or my wife with the loud noise. An electronic set means the ability to use headphones as well as adding sound via my desktop monitors if needed. Hearing an experienced player behind a kit can be an awesome thing, but having a newbie behind the kit can be a bit annoying, I'm sure <grin>. The third reason was the fact that recording seemed to be a much easier thing to do with an electronic set, especially to someone new behind the kit. I got a killer deal on this set (bought new, not used) and I'm quite happy with it.
I will save my questions for the other forums, but wanted to introduce myself here.
I look forward to any advice I can get here.
Darryl
