I was wondering what heads to use as replacements, the snare head i got is a roland and is two ply, the ddrum4 heads are single ply, big difference in feel and playability, so i removed the inner ply and it seemed to work much better. are there single ply heads available? are there heads that perform better yet?
also, what sticks are preferred for head life preservation? replaceable tip models?
Thanx, Tim

On ddrum pads in particular I've always had good experience with either Hart Dynamic mesh heads or the mesh 2ply heads Billy Blast used to carry that were a thinner 2 ply . He was made to discontinue selling them by a large company whom I won't mention , but let me know if you need any of those . I have some connections and leads on some that may still be floating around out there . They are black mesh 2 plys by the way .
I've always had good luck with just using standard wooden tips on sticks with mesh heads , but that sometimes comes down to playing method too . Different drummers play different ways and at different intensity in their hits .
