I would do my ddrum firmware upgrade. I currently have version 1.30 and I would like to install version 1.50. Is this possible?

it's entirely possible. The two words of caution I have for anyone doing this:
1 - take your time and do not force anything - the chips will take a certain amount of pressure to get them into the socket, but be very careful not to force them as the pins on the chips can be bent pretty easily.
2 - use a workspace (table, desk, etc) that is not in a area with a carpeted floor. It will help reduce static electricity buildup and reduce the possibility of zapping the chip or the other circuitry of your ddrum4. It would be even better if you have an ESD safe workspace (like what's used at computer shops), but not all of us have access to that kind of setup.
