Well its time to replace my heads. Tired of the tennis racket feel, so I am thinking about getting the blastec II's. But I am just wondering if ddrum will trigger with these heads. I've heard people say they prefer one ply, and these are 3ply. Just wondering what everyones thoughts are and what you all are using? Thanks

The ballistech II heads are actually quite nice and to me they feel like an in between feel between mylar drum heads and mesh drum heads . What I like about them is that they have the feel of acoustic ( mylar ) drum heads but don't have that tennis racket / trampoline feel that a bit of mesh heads have to them . Also sonically they are more quiet that real drum heads but a little louder than mesh . I've been using one on my snare on my kit for over 6 months now and it still looks like brand new . I use both ddrum3 and ddrum4 modules on my kit and this drumhead works well with both of them .

btw, what other heads are you using? dino I was using the black mesh heads that Billy used to stock before Roland gave him so trouble about them and they ended up discontinued . I switched over to some Hart magum mesh heads and then once I've tried the Ballistech II heads I'm getting ready to set up my whole kit with them . I'm actually an endorsed drummer on Billy's artist roster , so tell him that I sent you over from the ddrum forum sam(otacon28)

hey Sam, Received the heads today, very fast on the shipping, but I have a question. If you flip the head over, the bottom layer is baggy. Is the bottom layer suppose to be loose like that?

Is the bottom layer suppose to be loose like that? dino I noticed my 12" was like that when I got it . I think it may have to do with the way they are designed to be more wooden shell friendly . Once you tighten it up on a drum I think that the design offers less friction on the bearing of wooden drum shells than a standard mesh may have to it . Hope they work out great for you . Mine on my snare has been working out really well and I'll be switching out all of mine to these real soon . sam(otacon28)

Thanks Sam. Wasn't sure if that was normal. The bottom layer does tighten up when they are put on the drum. Now that I am getting use to the different feel, I am really liking them. Billy had them on my door step in two days and I told him you sent me over. Thanks for all your input.

Dino No problem Dino , Billy does get them out to drummers really quick Getting used to them doesn't seem to take long at all , and the transition seems alot easier than a bit of mesh heads out there . I like how these still have some of the characteristics that I like about standard drum heads but with a more quiet sound produced . Glad to hear all is good with them , like I mentioned the one I have on my snare has been working out very well so I'll be doing the same very soon . sam(otacon28)

Well I have one head that, for a lack of other words, sounds like a clank, while the others sound like a thud. Tried loosing and tighting but just sounds different than the others. Not sure if I will send it back or just order another one and keep it for a spare.
