Hello everybody.
As tittle states I'm trying to trigger Addictive Drums from FL Studio using my Ddrum 4SE kit. I'm succeeding in configuring all pieces but hi hat, has someone done it with success?
I'm trying to use the CC capabilities of the AD software. If you know how mapping works (I'm just learning) this is what I've done so far:
- Toms and kick configured to one unique stroketype ("open hit")
- Snare and snare rim configured to one unique stroketype each; I've chosen "open hit" for the head and "shallow rimshot" for the rim, this way the snare sounds very well for both kinds of hitting and has a powerful sound when both samples are triggered at once. - Crash and ride have different sounds for edge and center. For ride I've obviously chosen an edge/bell configuration, for crash I've chosen two different crash cymbals.
- Hi hat: This is being a nightmare
I'm trying to use the ccHihat stroketypes so that I can get all possible articulations. I could map them so that it distinguishes edge and bell mapping "cc edge" and "cc bell" (or tip and shaft, I'm not sure about their real name in AD), but no clue about how to get them to sound opened, closed and varying half closed, they always sound closed.
Any suggestion? Has someone tried and fixed this? Thanks in advance César
PS: Full configuration: Computer: PC core2duo IF: Alesis iO26 Firewire Host: FL Studio Producer VST: Addictive Drums 1.5.1

Hello,
Almost one year you wrote the message, but I have the same pb as you : I cannot configure my DDRUM HH with AD. HAve you find a solution to have opened and closed sound depending on the position of the pedal.
If somedody has the solution, please answer.
Thanks

The most viable solution to make the hihat work is to use a Midi Solutions Processor to map the notes from the hihat to whatever you want. There are quite a few threads on here that discuss the ddrum hihat, so the info is there.

I almost forgot this thread!
It is possible to play with different open/close levels using AD, but not with FL Studio, which doesn't transmit CC4 values, you'll need to use a different DAW. I tried Ableton Live and to my surprise it worked after some tweaking. Here is an explanation of what I did:
- Once I got the kit connected to AD via Ableton Live, every pad working perfectly (except open/close capabilities from the hihat) I went to the AD main window, opened the tab "Beat" and then "Map Window" configuration window (down-left).
- Just under "Map Preset" (up-left corner) I selected hi-hat to be configured.
- In the center of the window I assigned "CC Hi Hat Tip" (all the way down the list) to all the notes that module can send when hihat is hit (don't remember exactly which notes, but it can be read on the module manual), just drag&dropping them on the piano view to the right. It is possible to map "CC Hi Hat Bell" or "CC Hi Hat Shaft " too.
- By selecting "CC HiHat" Tab (down-left part of the window) I configured the intervals that define the 4 open and 2 closed hihat sounds. Here a bit of playing is needed to get sure you feel comfortable with the sound at any position of the pedal.
- I had to check the "CC Reverse" box and set to the maximum Foot Close and Foot Splash Sensititivity selectors. CC numbers remained unchanged.
After this I could play and felt the CC4 working. Some slight tweaks have been done since. This configuration is working under Ableton Live but there was no way to make it work under FL Studio. Unfortunately I don't know which DAWs will transmit CC4 values to AD and which ones won't. For this reason I'm also interested in the Midi Solutions Processor that Krillo mentioned too.

Zesar, thanks for this - I recently picked up Ableton, but haven't had time to get to playing with the MIDI compatibility with my ddrum4 yet. This'll help for when I actually do sit down with it
