hi hat recording (solved!)

Hi Guys

Firstly many thanks to Sam for bringing me here and for some great ebaying.

I have a Ddrum 4 brain and just got the HiHat from Sam and it works a treat playing the kit, but when i record in Reaper or Ableton i get all the recording but not open hat it just remains closed.

I see the recorded foot pedal data which indicates it is playing fine just the brain is not receiving it back when i play back from the DAW.
The foot pedal data is recording on CC 4 i think.
I have the send out MIDI channel on all channels

any Ideas?

Hi,

I haven't tried having ddrum4 play back incoming midi the way you describe. The only thing I can think of is that the hihat controller connected to the ddrum4 is overriding the incoming midi data. Try unplugging the hihat controller, and see if that affects anything.

No, just tried that and it doesn't make make any difference. I have found a few posts around on the Net with the same issue but no answers, it does seem weird that Clavia would miss the possibility to record the midi from the HiHat but not have it so the ddrum can not play it back in it entirety.

Has anyone here got it working in full?

Also just tried a system reset in case but still no good..

Good news;

I just managed to record and have ddrum4 play back hihat articulation properly!
I currently use Reaper, reaper.fm/ Make sure the midi input is enabled (all midi devices are disabled by default in Reaper), and make sure it also is enabled for control messages.

Sorry haven't posted but its been manic at work..

I dont know whats going on but Reaper is being weird for me, it just doesnt work, on the plus side i got Ableton to work now, so something must be set up wrong in Reaper dispite me checking and double checking and it was kinda working before with only play back but no open hat, now it wont play back at all...Checked midi channels devices etc...

Oh well at least i know the DDrums are fine now and i can use Ableton.
