Hi I'm new.
Great to have a forum like this around.
I bought a ddrum4 when it first came out, then sold it to a friend (too loud for my downstairs neighbors; was living in a small New York City apartment back then) and bought it back from my friend later.
The reason I bought the ddrum4 over any other choices was sensitivity, feel and ddrum's stellar reputation.
I have to say I'm more of an acoustic drummer and am not that experienced with electronic music equipment.
Here's my question:
How can I trigger sounds from a Korg Synthesizer (setup/connections, assigning channel etc) using my ddrum4 and is it better to use a tom pad vs snare, hihat or cymbal pad?
Also, I have a Mac. Any disadvantages of working with the ddrum4 using a Mac vs a PC?
Thanks for any help.

Hi again. This is something I forgot to bring up in my first post. Is it preferable to trigger samples from my Korg synthesizer through Midi vs dumping the sounds into the ddrum4 brain? I read in a post on soundonsound by Gavin Harrison where he mentions time delay in triggering (4.6 ms). Is this something I should be concerned about and/or can it be avoided? The post mentioned above can be found at www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep04/articles/livesound.htmThanks Jemp

Poor Gavin! He should have known about Clavia and ddrum I had to read the whole thing. Their first system was released 1983, the rack system was out April 1985, one and a half year before that tour started! Clavia could probably have provided him with custom sample cartridges for it! The ddrum4 has a latency of 2,4mS not 4,6 as the article states. And, yes loading your samples into it will provide less latency than connecting it via midi to your Korg. Will you use it for playing or recording?
