Hi, I am new to the Ddrum world but have just bought a lacquer finished kit that looks awesome, save that there are several hairline splits in the paint on one shell ( where the badge is riveted on ) . Anybody has similar issues and what have you managed to do about it ? Thanks for any assistance that may come my way. 2112.

Have you purchased an acoustic drum kit?

Welcome to the forum fantom2112 ,
The damage you mentioned on your one drum shell sounds like something I would be speaking with the place you bought the drums from if you bought them new . Something like splitting in the finish in a drum around a hardware or badge area on a new drum is not common damage that the customer should be blamed for in most cases . If you bought them from a store or even an online seller I would at the least take that drum back or get in contact with where you bought the drumset and tell them that you would like a replacement for the damaged drum because of a manufacturing / assembling flaw in it .

Thanks for the welcome. I bought the kit on line from a privateer and was made aware of the issue at the time. I just wondered if it was a common issue and if there was a fix for it. First gig with the DD's this Saturday - we'll see how they perform.... Or I do, more to the point I guess. Only back at it after an 18 year sabatical...... Historically used everything from Pearl W series , to Ludwig Visalites ( wish I'd kept those babies as going for a fortune these days as vintage ) anyway, I am impressed by what I see / hear on the Ddrum package. All looks very tight and the 20 inch deep bass drum is like a thunder clap ! Throw me a rope..... Fantom2112
