Greetings
stereomental!
Yes, this is possible. You can transfer all sounds and settings from one dd4 module to another.
You will need at least one MIDI cable connected from the OUT port of the source module to the IN port of the destination module.
The destination module will need all sounds erased, or at least enough to provide the necessary room. Any sound numbers on the source machine will not automatically overwrite a sound with the same number and type on the destination module. Section 6 of the manual describes how to select/delete multiple sounds in one event on the destination module. The same basic procedure is used to select the sounds on the source module to send.
To select all sounds, do the following;
1. Press the Sound button.
2. Rotate the Rotary Dial (encoder) counter-clockwise until the display shows “- - -“.
3. Press and hold the Shift and Sound buttons together.
4. Continue to hold the Shift & Sound buttons and rotate the encoder clockwise (one click) until you see G.xx displayed where xx is the total sounds for the kick group.
5. While still holding the Shift and Sound buttons, press the Mark button (same button as Level A). The display will begin to flash.
6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 until you have all sound groups selected (KICK through ASSORTED)
7. While still holding the Shift button down, let go of the Sound button and press the Delete button.
The display will show erase progress by counting down to zero.
On the source module repeat steps 1 through 6. Then for step 7 press Shift/Exit (NOT Shift/Delete) to begin the transfer.
The ddrum4 is always in MIDI standby mode so there is nothing to do to setup the destination module for receiving sounds other than clearing space and connecting a MIDI cable.
Both modules will count the blocks being transferred.
If you see “DUP” displayed on the destination module, that indicates that a “Duplicate” sound already exists and cannot be overwritten. Once that particular sound has finished transferring from the source module the message will disappear and the transfer will continue with the next sound.
All of the kits and system settings can be transferred as well by pressing the System button repeatedly until the display shows “d.AL”, then pressing the Shift and Exit buttons together to start the transfer.
Cheers!
