Hi all, a few weeks ago I bought an old DDRUM2 Sound module on Ebay. It has strange behaviour because the Audio-Output doesn`t really sound like it should. The samples actually sound like digital garbage ... a bit like bells. The Triggering , etc. works fine... I posted a recording... All the other parameters, the digital logic for pitch, decay, treble, bass, etc. works also fine... so I'm not sure if the internal sound Eproms crashed up.. (but a bit unlikely.. all 6 at once?) So does anyone have an idea what could cause this problem or has anybody had a similar problem before? I'm a technical engineer, so I took a look into the device and studied the schematics already. In the next few days I will make some measurements on D/A Conversion, Audio-Multiplex Timings, etc.. But before I invest many time on measuring I don't give up hope that anyone could help me where to focus on! :=)

It does have 8 outputs, so check them all. If all sound the same, it's not the D/A converters. Unlikely all 8 will be shot.

I'll be very interested in what you find out, JK.
I also have a DDrum2 with sonic oddities, though it sounds like yours is much worse than mine.
On mine, all the sounds have this annoying, somewhat high pitch sound that decays more slowly than the drum sounds themselves. Maybe some kind of digital aliasing, I dunno. It's VERY annoying. Enough so that I will upgrade to something else if I can't fix this.
I just started using this kit after many years in storage, and I can't recall if it always sounded this way, but I don't think so. So probably it's due to some component aging. Perhaps your problem is the same, just much worse?
--------------------------
I am trying to get a full component list, so I can rebuild the thing. At a minimum the electrolytics, but ideally other important components that may have aged as well. On this note, where did you find the schematic? I could REALLY use one.
