Here's a step by step for calibrating the ddrum cast hi-hat controller
1. Let the hi-hat clutch fall down on the hi-hat controller by its own weight
2. Press the System button until you get to the Trig Input mode for channel 10 . Select "HHT" with the Rotary Dial
3. Without touching the hi-hat stand , hold Shift and press Exit . The Display will briefly show "CAL" and the calibration is completed
4. Secure the hi-hat clutch at a comfortable height for playing
5. That's all that is needed to calibrate a working hi-hat clutch with the ddrum4 module . Once it's calibrated the ddrum4 module will store that info . but from time to time you may need to re-calibrate the clutch if you disconnect it or move it from place to place when transporting the drumset .

hi, i followed these instructions but still can’t get it to work. Actually, it shows Cal but when I hit the hihat with a stick or push my foot down, both sounds are exactly the same, an open hihat sound. When I push the hihat button on the module with my finger, it makes a closed sound. Any ideas please?

I’m using the original one that came with the unit. Strangely, I noticed that in Pal mode and for the P.1 kit, the first kick sound (out of 5) is the sound of a ride struck on the bell. The rest of the sounds seem fine.

I forgot to mention that the hihat also makes the same sound (as an open hihat struck with a stick) when I take my foot off the hihat pedal and the tension from the spring in the hihat stand is released

Make sure that "note p" is set to 8. Also check the sound you have assigned to hihat channel actually has all zones. There are "open hihat"-only sounds and one of those might be assigned.
You can use midi to check that the hihat and the module generate midi data for the hihat. Software like midi-ox is good for the purpose.
