I have read the manual but still i can't find how to dump sound from my windows pc to the ddrum3 module. Read something about standard midi dump, but how ?
Is there a tool to do that, can I use the ddrum 4 tool for it ? Can i load sound from the ddrum 4 SE cd on the ddrum3 ?
Sorry for all the questions but a really don't know where to start.
I use SoundForge for transferring sounds from my PC to my ddrum3. You will of course also need a MIDI-interface or soundcard with MIDI-interface. You can't use ddrum4SE multi sampled sounds. I don't think any .mid files will work, even if they are single shot. You can use the ddrum4wav tool to first convert them to wav. All sounds must be single shot, then arranged in the module to multisamples.
Can you tell me in a few steps how you transfer with soundforge, and what version off soundforge, I just can;t seem to find how to do that under soundforge 10 pro.
Here's the stuff you will need: * ddrum3 * Flash card * PC * MIDI-interface * Samples 44.1kHz 16-bit * Software capable of transmitting "sample dump" (SDS) format. In Linux you can do it from the command line using -amidi linux.die.net/man/1/amidi There are also free applications that can do it in Linux. Under windows I use SoundForge v5.0f (build 259) which can be downloaded here: www.zdnet.be/downloads/15634/sound-forge-5-0e-build-248/
Here's a step-by-step guide:
* Connect both MIDI-in and out between PC and ddrum3 * Open Sound Forge * Open the file you want to transfer, should be 44.1kHz 16-bit * Go to Tools>Sampler Click configuration and make sure you choose the MIDI-interface connected to the ddrum3. "Open loop", should be ticked, the other two will grey out. Click OK.
* Choose a logical send/recieve sample number. It is good practice to number your samples if you have created multisamples, so that they will have corresponding numbers in the ddrum3 and your computer.
* In the ddrum3 press MIDI/SYSTEM until you see RECEIVE SCSI MODE in the top line of the display. Make sure the leftmost button under the display is lit. Turn the dial to choose C1 or C2 (card 1 or 2).
* Press send sample in SoundForge. Now you should see % and a progression bar in ddrum3's display.
Afterwards you can assemble samples to multisamples in the ddrum3 or change the velocity curve (version 2 and up), change name etc.
Yes, I saw your reply, thanx! I've gotten hold of a cast snare already, but good to know Btw, you might wanna put some multi layered cymbal samples in your module, it will sound a lot better. You can also make the end of the file loop, to have a more natural decay. I posted a ride here at the forum for free download. You can also use ddrum4 or 2box samples, but you will need to edit them.
Hi Krillo, Thank you very much for the step by step explanation of transferring samples. I started using the DDrum 4SE from 2006, tried the TD10, EXP TD10, TD20, Yamaha DTX 2.0 in between but was never happy with their sounds, when I sold them I had made samples of the best sounds I like and since then was looking for a way to transfer this samples to the DDrum4SE but never got successful, today when I came across this post I transferred my samples to my DDrum4se for the first time, I am really excited, thank you very much for the help.
