Hi all!
In 1994 the maximum PCMCIA card size (according to the dd3 manual) was 20MB. Has anyone successfully used larger than that with a ddrum3? Does the dd3 have a known maximum size card that is supported? Unlimited(ish)? The Type I cards are hard to find so prefer not to engage in trial and error (i.e, wasted $$) if I can avoid it.
Thanks for any information.
Cheers!
Ken

I've kept to 20MB cards. There is larger ones to be had, and also ones with SD-card adapers integrated into them. Would be interesting to try out, but a bit pricey. Also 20MB is just right for 4 toms w 16 layers.

Thanks @krillo! I went ahead and got a couple of 64MB cards that were available so hopefully those will work. I'll report back when I receive them. The adaptors for Compact Flash would be great I think however I have only seen them in Type II or III but not in Type I.
Cheers!

FYI, the 64MB cards did not work as they are ATA versus Linear and although they were recognized by the dd3 when inserted, could not be formatted (wrong card type). So returning these. So much to learn about legacy PC Card tech!! (so many types!). Lesson learned; dd3 requires Linear format, not ATA.
Cheers!

I’ve been using 28 meg cards. I have 4 of them. Purchased them around 1997. I had them made for me by a company called Pretec.

Unfortunately (and not surprising 25 years later) Pretec no longer provides the Linear cards and Companies that stocked them have mostly cleared the shelves except for a few which are incredibly expensive! Definitely getting hard to find. Cheers! Ken

Back in the day, you could call Pretec and they made them to your specs. That’s what I did. I believe they cost me $289 a piece 25 years ago. I was so nervous because there was the possibility that they wouldn’t work. They did. Linear flash, Type 1 Series 2 is embedded in my brain.
