Hi ,
My problem is :
No signal and no sound on Tom 1 input. Signal and audio are ok when hitting the Channel button
XLR-jack panel seems to be ok Cast Precision Mesh pad is ok (it works well on all other channels) Input is well routed too
Does anyone ever had the same issue ? Does anyone knows where to find the card schematics ?
Thanks a lot for your help ! Best Regards
Stef

Hi Stef,
Seems you have checked all of the obvious. Did the channel just suddenly stop working? Or you recently acquired the unit? Other than an actual hardware failure the only thing I can think of that would mute the pad but still have sound from the button would be the channel sensitivity knob being at zero (or faulty).
Cheers!
Ken

bzhbass1 Check that threshold is not set at max. This could potentially stop all input signals from being detected.

Thx for the tip ;-) Cheers Stef

Hmm. When you hit the pad, does the channel LED light up like the others? That could at least determine if the signal is being received by the module (make sure to select another channel manually first to change the LED focus).

That could at least determine if the signal is being received by the module (make sure to select another channel manually first to change the LED focus). The channel LED lights up when I hit the channel button. When I hit the pad , the LED doesn't blink like when plugged in others channels. When I alternately plug the pad to other channels , the LED of the related channel lights up (and blinks when hitting pad) , but when I plug it back to Hi tom channel , the LED of this one stays off. It lights up again only when hitting the channel 4 button. I had also manipulated the sensitivity knob , nothing more happened , but I don't really know how to multimeter it so...

When I hit the pad , the LED doesn't blink like when plugged in others channels. At this point could simply be mechanical failure of the jack. To rule that out you will need to open up the unit and verify with a multimeter that the tip and ring in the jack are actually connecting to the board (check from both the jack and the opposite end of a cable plugged into the jack). If you have not opened up a dd4 module before, note that you must remove all of the jack nuts and midi port screws as described in this post. Cheers! Ken

Hi Ken , I finally found the faulty parts ! it's the channel 4 sensivity knob which received a shock on top of it and the pressure breaks the bottom of the pot... Now the quest will be to find a new one !! Thanks for your help ;-) Cheers Stef

I finally found the faulty parts ! Awesome! (and bummer too!) As long as you can identify the component I have found www.digikey.com to be a good source. Good luck! Ken

Good find! I once owned a dd4 with one of the pots swapped out for a trimpot. I remember searching for the correct part. I believe they are ALPS, but I didn't find any replacement. Hope you find a suitable replacement!

Now the quest will be to find a new one !! Future reference for anyone needing the same, I was able to locate these from Digi-Key which are a near exact replacement. The originals are 220k OHM Logarithmic (audio) potentiometers. These replacements are 200k OHM Logarithmic with the same physical dimensions. Cheers! Ken

Hi Ken and Krillo , Sorry for this so late answer ! I finally found a suitable replacement from Mouser , it's the same reference as the one you found from digi-key : PTV09A-4015U-A204 Note : my original pot was exactly the same , rated at 200k Ohms , not 220k as yours. After replacing that pot nothing changed...! Still no Hi-Tom when using the trigger In Worst , it seems that the Rim trigger In stopped working too !! Exactly the same issue , sounds ok when hitting the Channel button , but nothing when used with the Pad (Snare or Rim cable in)... Cheers ! Stef

Worst , it seems that the Rim trigger In stopped working too !! Interesting, because the rim and tom1 share a common component (U2) as shown in this snip from the schematic and picture of the board. That could be a likely culprit. Maybe? Cheers! Ken
