I use a DDrum 3 brain, which I bought used years ago.
Everything else works fine (amazingly) but yesterday I tried recording the midi output for the first time. Nada. Zilcho.
I checked the same cables and usb converter with the output from a midi keyboard, and that worked, so the problem is definitely in the DDrum. I read the manual, but it offers little help. I did set everything to "global." ----------------
Is there some setting I'm not seeing, or does it sound like a defective brain?
thx.

Hi!,
Did you set the MIDI channel to match your receiving device? Not sure what the default may be in the dd3 but 10 is the typical channel for most drum devices.
Cheers!

Thx, Ken.
Yes, I have the DAW set correctly. It's set to record ALL incoming midi.
I'm 100% sure there's no midi coming out of the module.

Well, it was shot in the dark ;-) But sometimes it is the simple things...
Curious though, does inbound MIDI function? And if so, does THRU work?

Curious though, does inbound MIDI function? And if so, does THRU work? Good question, I should have thought of that. Just checked, and no, midi in also doesn't work. Is there some master midi "on-off" function? Otherwise, I guess my module is screwed. What are my chances of getting it fixed?

Another thing to try is transmitting a sound out of the module via Sample Dump Standard and watching the transfer using a midi monitor on your computer. SysEx transfers are not channel specific so you can at least reduce the possibility of configuration mismatches. The dd3 manual that I have describes this on page 78. Unless there is a common component on the system board it seems odd that all 3 midi ports would go bad together.
Just a thought...
