I recently did a deal with someone and acquired a large pile of electronic percussion parts and pieces. In that haul were a few ddrum pieces I think are fascinating. There were four very old pads that use real drum heads, two of the red bars, two kick drum pads that look like giant metal Ls, and the ddrum AT trigger unit.
They were kept in less-than-ideal conditions. For the Roland and Alesis pieces I found, there has been a wealth of info and DIY refurbishment videos, etc. I'm a little stuck here with the ddrum stuff, especially the pads. Is there a common source for spare parts of really old stuff that is known by everyone except ddrum newbies like me? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
The fault that might have occurred with the pads is cracks around the "lugs", because of overtightening the heads. Other than that, new heads and I'd guess they'll be good to go. I've seen some not original mounts too. The hardware for ddrum was Tama. New foam for the kick towers might be hard to source. Maybe DIY something if needed. They're pretty robust tho. Pads with red stripe are ddrum2 and older, grey stripe is ddrum3 and have better position detection. They perform best with regular heads, not mesh, because the trigger is mounted on a plate covered with foam.
