Hi all Just wanted to share the process of cleaning out the ddrum3 front panel buttons from oxidation. * Remove all the screws holding the front panel. * Remove ribboncables from front panel. * Remove the nuts and washers from the trigger input jacks. * Remove all the screws holding the circuitboard. Here are the more delicate operations: * Remove the black cap from the push buttons by prying it from the white base. It's quite easy to break them. Inside the caps there are three metal components: One flat round contact-disc, one spring and one convex washer that gives the tactile "click" when pushing the button, and needs to be put back the right way. On the white base which is soldered to the circuit board are two contacts. These need to have the oxide removed from them. Easiest is to scrape it off using a small screwdriver. Make sure any metal particles from the scraping are removed from the circuit board. Then clean the contacts with alcohol. The round contact discs also need to have the oxide removed. I use steel wool for this purpose, and then clean them off with alcohol.

Thanks for taking the time to take these pictures and pass on this information. It is much appreciated. Quick question for you....have you ever had any issues with the large rotary wheel? I have a 2.07 ddrum3 that I recently picked up that seems to have a bit of an intermittent hiccup when turning the large dial. It's like it skips every now and then. Not a huge problem, more of an annoyance really. I have another 2.06 model that works flawlessly so I was just curious if anyone else had ran into this. The unit itself looks new so I don't worry that it's had a rough environmental life.

Usually when the unit have been sitting for a while unused, and usually when it's been colder or damper. I just turn it a few times and usually the problem goes away, but now that you mention it, the next project would be cleaning out this rotary encoder. We'll see

I just replaced the rotary encoder on my AT. It could be the same model: Bourns ECW1J-R19-CC0024. They are still made but i could only get the AC0024 one, with the connecting pins the other way round. that is no problem if you solder wires to the three pins.
another note about cleaning the switches: I use a pencil eraser for this as screwdrivers make big scratches on the contact surface. I use a EberhardFaber one with barcode 4087205854436 and it is red/blue colored. I only use the red side as the blue side makes too much scratches already. the silver plating is quite thin.
