Here's a link to an application which allowes splitting dd4 multi-samples to individual wav-files. Please note that the settings within the .mid file that manipulates filters, pitch-bend etc are lost. This means that the resulting wav-files may not sound identical to them being played by the dd4 module. www.mediafire.com/file/glijz5y97lbg9uo/ddrum4wav.exe

Hi Thanks for this - really useful. I've started experimenting with this, and had some success. But I've got one sound - SNRE 572 - that only seems to produce one WAV file. Looking at the output from tool, it seems there are 8 samples, but they are all set to gain 7 (which I assume is why only 1 WAV is produced perhaps it is producing 8 WAVs but all with the same name?).
name SNRE_572 Gaynor shot1, type CDD4, blocks 214 param 0, sample 0, amp 90, start 0, count 28, zone 0, gain 7 param 1, sample 1, amp 90, start 28, count 27, zone 0, gain 7 param 2, sample 2, amp 90, start 55, count 26, zone 0, gain 7 param 3, sample 3, amp 90, start 81, count 25, zone 0, gain 7 param 4, sample 4, amp 90, start 106, count 27, zone 0, gain 7 param 5, sample 5, amp 90, start 133, count 26, zone 0, gain 7 param 6, sample 6, amp 90, start 159, count 27, zone 0, gain 7 param 7, sample 7, amp 90, start 186, count 27, zone 0, gain 7 sample 0, 0.94 s sample 1, 0.90 s sample 2, 0.86 s sample 3, 0.83 s sample 4, 0.90 s sample 5, 0.86 s sample 6, 0.90 s sample 7, 0.90 s press enter to quit
Is there any way to overcome this?

SNRE 572 is a rimshot, one layer only. Filenames of samples with multiple layers usually (always?) end with 7S or 6S for the number of layers.

If you listen to the mid file in the original ddrum4tool.exe program it plays 8 sounds - they are not as obviously different as the 8 snare sounds, but (to my ears) they do sound slightly different (perhaps they are multiple samples at the same volume to try and avoid 'machine gunning'?)

You're absolutely right! I should have tried it myself before replying. I have no idea as to why the tool does that. Some files seem to render OK and others don't.

No worries, now I have your other documentation, I might see if I can 'hack' the file and correct it...….

What did you use to code this application? Would you be willing to share the source code?

Rik made the tool. He worked for Clavia on the dd4.
