I am happy you've created this forum as I don't expect anything from Kraft Music anymore.
Great kit!!! I see you've replaced all ddrum cymbals.
I guess you don't get position sensing with these pads? Or does the ddrum3 somehow still pickup different zones with these?

It's still a work in progress on here , but hopefully we can all create a resource of ddrum info again on this forum . It really sucks that the Kraft forum closed down and hopefully with some collective effort we might get somewhat the kind of information to share with others that was over on that forum on here . On my kit . Yeah I switched over the cymbals to the Smartrigger ones , but still have most of the ddrum cymbal pads for when I need them ( I have about 2 dozen of them ) . With the current drum tracks I'm recording and spending some time getting creative with the ddrum samples & settings these Smartrigger cymbals are responding alot like acoustic ones both feel and control wise . They've actually been working out really well with the rest of my kit . sam(otacon28) |

would be great to have ddrum relaten information exchange going on here.
sounds good. I've never tried smarttrigger cymbals. There aren't very popular over here.
Is that a Wallstreet or Lombard Powerbook for the dd3?
I guess you can't use positional sensing with the blast pads?

Yep , It may take some time , but I'm sure some info. will start compiling here . I'll be sending out some invites to various ddrum user's I know so the members will start coming in a bit .
The Smartrigger cymbals are actually pretty rock solid and the triggering on them is clean and really precise . I think the biggest issue anyone ever really had with them was with the dampeners on the underside coming loose with the adhesive issue that was happening on the earlier versions .
The laptop is a Wallstreet loaded with alchemy for the sample software . Yeah there's limits a little on the postional sensing on the Blastech being they're not really designed for ddrum modules ( as most other brands aren't ) But I do get some variables of postioning on them with some of the multi-layered samples that are on the dd3 .

the module mounting looks pretty awesome. What kind of parts have you used to mount the two modules and the powerbook? A am just considering some new ways of mounting and you have the same devices (dd3 & dd4 & powerbook).

A am just considering some new ways of mounting and you have the same devices (dd3 & dd4 & powerbook). Some rack tubes & clamps mostly and then a few module mount arm set-ups . I actually have some pictures on my PC of the mounting set-up for the modules and Powerbook without them on it , so let me take a look for them . If I can't find them I'll just take the modules off and shoot a few new ones . I spent a little time with setting it up but it's super sturdy and actually attached to my rack in 2 spots for stability . I really wanted to make sure it was sturdy with the weight of the dd3 module on it . I've just seen you play the hi-hat like Bill Bruford does (centered) :-) Yep I set it up like that a few months back just to mix things up a little and I actually like it being centered on the kit . It's actually really comfortable on my kit configuration with all the toms on it . I'm able to play left or right handed , so it makes it easier when I want switch hands on the hats in the middle of playing . sam(otacon28) |

I just shot some pictures of my module and laptop workstation set-up so I'll get them uploaded in my PC and I'll get some posted on here . No problem lite , It's really a rock solid set up and the few extra supports make it very sturdy and tie it right in to my rack itself but easily detachable if needed . If you comb through ebay you can find these mounting arms that they use on keyboard stands and mixer mounts that are pretty much the same as what Clavia designed for mounting the ddrum modules . Some of them don't have the V in the attached clamp that locks into the notched tube ddrum made , but a memory lock will do the same thing locking the clamp from rotating . The standard Rack T clamps ( hard plastic or metal ) work really well for securing the tube to the main upright leg like I did on mine . sam(otacon28) |

I have seen that you have two types of triggers on the toms, some are DIY and the others I don't know the brand. Why do you use two triggers on the toms??

Yeah I have the internal triggers that came with my Blastech kit when I originally got them , and also a set of external mounted Blaster drum triggers . I use several different configurations of my drumset and alot of times 3 drum modules , so mainly it's for an additional trigger on each drum ( ex. my mounted toms have head & rim triggers and act as if they were dual zone ) . it took a little time adjusting some settings but I set the rims on my drums to GM voices like Piano , Bass , Horns , String & symphony hits , etc . Also depending on what samples I'm using some of them seem to work better with a head mounted trigger set-up than with an internal mounted triggering . sam(otacon28) |
