hello to all friends
My name is beppe live in Italy.
I bought a module ddrum4 se and I wanted to build the new set.
I wanted to let you questions.
1 - cymbal which are compatible with this module? 2 - if I build with piezo central pad can use the positional sensing on the toms? 3 - roland vh11 is true that it is compatible with module ddrum4? 4 - if I use ddrum pro acoustic trigger use positional sensing?
thanks

You may experience false- / doubletriggering aswell. Choking function is activated by gently pressing or bending the piezo inside the cast pad. You could build a similar functioning e-cymbal, if you are a bit crafty. 2 Yes! 3 No. 4 No. PS I deleted the duplicate entry in the other section DS

HelloThanks you for your reply. If I take the cymbal millenium www.thomann.de/it/millenium_mps200_e_drum_becken_pad.htm I used then as mono crashes? to get the positional sensing on snare drum how do I do?I have the original pad mesh but do not work the trigger. How do you change the trigger? to use the ride instead should I take a millenium 2 or 3 zones? I would use 4 tom and crash 2 1 ride, kick bass and snare. How can I make this combination? there are antoher input? p.s. hi hat vh12 is compatible? Thanks !!!!

I made a video showing Millenium MPS-400 (I don't own the 200) triggering my ddrum3 which would trigger similarly as dd4. youtu.be/AANnG76_p7YTo have positional sensing, the piezo must be center mounted, but be aware that the dd4 actually doesn't feature many positional samples, nor does the dd3. Those kind of samples have to be created manually if to make full use of positional sensing, which is a pity! If you want to build your own pad, check out my photos of a ddrum3 pad: PS The above drawing states "hexagonal" plate. This was used in ddrum2 pads (red lining). The ddrum3 uses round plates that feature much improved positional information. (dd2 didn't have positional sensing - I think ) To answer if you will need 2 or 3 zones: 2= no choke, 3= choke, but only with compatible module. As you can see in the video, ddrum uses different method of choking, thus can use only 2 zones but still get choke (w. "weird" grip) If I count correctly you should fit: 1 Kick 2 Snare 3 Tom 1 4 Tom 2 5 Tom 3 6 Tom 4 7 Crash 1 8 Crash 2 9 Ride Then you still have the hihat input which can be used with a regular pad (just set trigger type). Regarding VH12 - no other hihat than the ddrum cast hihat controller is compatible with dd4. You could maybe DIY one, see thread unofficially-ddrum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=diy&action=display&thread=46 otherwise you can connect VH12 to a Roland compatible module and then via midi to dd4.

So how do I buy the 3-zone ride and crash as well! Right? How do I change the transducer pads original?

So how do I buy the 3-zone ride and crash as well! Right? How do I change the transducer pads original? Well I think the Millenium pads will work fine for crashes. As ride cymbal you might get erroneous zones triggered (i.e bell sound when you don't want to.) so I don't dare answer for ride. Maybe buy pads for crashes first and try them as ride, or be prepared to return one if it doesn't work as hoped? I wouldn't change transducer in a cast pad. Better to build a pad from an old acoustic (snare) drum, or try to find a dd3 pad on eBay. I don't think it would be worth the effort to change all the pads for toms and snare - a lot of work for little change w. dd4. Maybe for just a snare it would be worth the effort.

It should have similar performance as dd4 mesh pads. The included cable is stereo, so you would need an Y-adapter to use both head and rim trigger, since dd4 has no stereo inputs. It should have similar performance as shown in my video above. Trigger shot red are excellent for toms and kick? Red Shot triggers perform very well with dd4. Only drawbacks with these triggers is that they use tuning lugs of the drum, so you mess up the tuning of the drum when mounting or removing the trigger. Not a problem if it's an e-drum. The other drawback is that it is possible to hit the small cables on the trigger - they are not protected as in the pro triggers.
