Greetings all! ddrum4edit 1.02.00 is now available! With this version comes some bug fixes, code refactoring, and enhanced support for native ddrum3 and 2Box DrumIt dsnd files. Previous ddrum3 support was limited to only reading the sample data and assigning each sample to a separate ddrum4 layer and variation. Now most of the layer parameters are translated from the ddrum3 format directly to the ddrum4, including sound types, velocities, positional sensing, amplitude envelope (gain, attack, decay) and pitch. Many ddrum3 parameters do not have a direct translation to the ddrum4 so currently are simply read, but ignored. Also the DVA parameters, although present do not yet have a known mapping to the ddrum4. Previous DrumIt dsnd support was limited to a single zone with some experimental velocity mapping from ddrum4 to dsnd. Support now includes multiple zones and improved velocity mapping (thanks Deve!) and as before, all layers have the ddrum4 layer parameters applied so the sounds are as close to an actual ddrum4 module as possible. This is still very much a work in progress and uses the existing ddrum4edit configuration format so is subject to change as more discovery is done. However, this provides an alternative to the existing DrumIt GUI apps for users that may prefer a text based, parametric approach to sound file creation, which can dramatically speed up the iterative process when making lots of small changes like modifying wave file content or swapping out different versions of a wave file. Download Link for User Guide and ddrum4edit executables. Cheers and Enjoy! Ken

And ddrum4ui has been updated, too, to use ddrum4edit 1.02.00. Download the Mac and Windows versions of ddrum4ui 1.2 here.

Sweet jesus... off topic, but had an urge to post this. Today I compared old orange 2box and ddrum4Se latency, by Y-cable split from snare and one end to soundcard recorder, other to module. This way I could record raw snare hit of the pad and on 2nd channel output of module and compare difference between raw hit and sound produced. I just couldn't believe ! on nh1 settings in ddrum module i got...... 2.2 ms of latency (!!!). I play through PA system and that makes huge difference. I have also had 2box connected with same samples and before tweaking I had 7-8ms latency out of it (very high for 2box) and I felt something is off, been struggling for quite bit of time, so researched and found that I had wrong 32GB sdcard. When I put back original 4gb my 2box latencies went down to 4.7 - 4.8ms on PAD8 settings, and through PA (which is around 1meter away from drums) is now super playable, but man.... ddrum4 2.2ms !? now thats another reason to convert your favourite samples to it, this latency is unmatchable.

Yeah, I tested a while back with similar results. Still the fastest gun in the west (and east and north and south) ;-) Well, other than the dd3 which clocks in at below 2.0, around 1.7-1.8. Now I'll need to test the dd2!

so you're saying dd3 is 0.5ms faster than dd4 ? :/ interesting... lets check, any dd3 drumsets locally ? Nah, not even in my country actually, but luckily I'm not that paranoid :-) Best thing now would be memory upgrade mod for ddrum4 which is probably doable but not likely to happen as too few users of this precious machine left, but this would be a killer
