Hi All,
I did a search in the forum and couldn't find a related post. So ...
How do I upload Ddrum sounds to the ddrum4 module without using the Ddrum4 tool?
Reason why I want to do this is because I think this is the last test I can do to solve a "cymbal choke on its own" issue (I already tried everything: cables, pads, system reset, bought another module, different computer, etc.) and it keeps happening. I suspect it could be malfunctioning of the tool in Windows XP, and not having a Windows 98 computer, I would like to try using a different software.
I don't know which software could be used, how to set it up, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Roberto

Have you tried adjusting the angle of the cymbal pad?
I had the same effect shortly after I bought my kit and found that changing the angle of the pad (so it was a little flatter) solved the problem.
Otherwise you're looking at needing to transfer the file(s) using a sampler that can support MIDI SDS dumping to another device.

Hi kyrrinstoch,
Not only I tried changing the angle, but I also did the whole process (from resetting to uploading and testing) without any pad or cymbal cable linked to it.
I am concluding the problem can only be in the module. So if anyone knows how to transfer with a different software, it would be great. I am not knowledgeable on MIDI software.
Thanks in advance,
Roberto

Hey Roberto ,
Have you checked the pad settings for the cymbal pads and made sure that the are set to Cyb ? Also the samples that you are using are they uploaded right from the ddrum cd or are they files that were downloaded ?
Just a few things that I could think of that may also be causing this problem .

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your message and ideas.
The pad is certainly set for CYB, no issues there.
As for the file, it is downloaded, because I am using Signature files and they were not in the original CD (but downloaded from Clavia's website).
The funny thing is that after pressing the button or the pad many times, the sound starts to slowly come back and choke less and less until it is finally "released" and normal.
Any other ideas?
Any input on how to use a sequencer to upload sounds (which software, how to do it?). I am very ignorant on this sequencers.
Thanks, Roberto

I've used the ddrum tool in both windows XP & windows 7 with no issues , so I know from personal experience in my case they both have worked with no issues when using with the ddrum tool . Have you tried to download any of the samples or the ddrum4 tool from the sound samples section here on the forum ? I have downloaded samples in the past and had a few slight issues with downloading them from clavia's website .

I will try to do that, thanks for the tip.
However, I am almost 100% convinced that it is an issue with the module. Reasons for that are:
- All other sounds are OK, the issue is only with sounds that are assigned to the cymbal channels that have pressure sensitivity (cymbal 1 and cymbal 2, channels 8 and 9) - If I assign these same sounds that have issues to a different channel with pressure sensitivity (e.g., snare drum), it sounds perfectly OK, no choking - If I leave the module on, after 10-15 minutes, the issue goes away (could it be something related to electrical parts heating?)
So, let's see. I will make tests and keep an eye on it and will let you know if I get to any conclusions.
